About Me

I am proud to be a lifelong Michigander. I was born and raised on the west side of Detroit. I grew up in a close-knit neighborhood where kids played outside together, neighbors knew one another, and people took pride in keeping the community clean. The relationships I formed with the people that lived in my neighborhood have stood the test of time.

I come from a blue collar family. My father works on the line at Ford and is a proud member of the UAW for thirty years. My mother worked several different jobs and took in extra children who needed love while raising our family. My family taught me respect, confidence, hard work, and the importance of standing up for people who couldn’t stand up for themselves. Protecting and fighting for people has always been a part of who I am.

I am still very close with my parents, grandparents, six siblings, and myriad of cousins aunts and uncles. I am divorced and the proud father of four amazing children. Being a father is the most important job I have ever had. My children give my life purpose and they continue to inspire me every day. I had my first daughter when I was 20 years old and she graduated from high school this year (please don’t do the math) and will be starting college this fall. My sons are doing well academically and compete in cross country, track, and swimming. Watching my children grow into hardworking, kind, and responsible young people is one of the greatest joys of my life. Family has always been the foundation of my life.

Outside of work and family, I am pretty chill but also adventurous. I am a musician, I love to cook and bake, and I love a good game night or movie night at home. I love to travel and experience new and different things via food, exploring, museums, and just meeting the locals wherever I go. One of my favorite places in Michigan is Traverse City. I love the scenery, the wineries, the peaceful atmosphere, and how welcoming people are there and across this state. I am one of the biggest Detroit sports fans you will meet, but also go Spartans!

I moved my family to New Hudson in Lyon Township in 2016. My kids attend South Lyon public schools. This has become the community I care deeply about. My kids have so many sports practices and meets, school plays or concerts, and other activities, that it feels like I am always meeting a new parent, taking someone new home from practice, or chatting with a coach. I love stopping at the corner store to grab a pop at the end of a long day and chatting with all the people who work there.

If you have read this far, thank you. I am trying to make a difference for our community and I know I am the right person to represent District 13 in Lansing.
